Requirements for all Board and Leadership Positions: Throughout the year, you will be expected to: 1. Register and attend at least 60% of TMA New York’s events in calendar year 2025, (the Chapter hosts approximately 20 total events). 2. Participate in at least 60% of the Chapter Board Meetings, (the Chapter holds approximately 11 Board Meetings annually; a mix of in-person and virtual). 3. Participate in at least 60% of the Conference Calls and/or Committee Meetings for your assigned Committee. 4. Complete your assigned committee work in a professional and timely fashion, (i.e. making calls, sending emails, reading student papers, etc.). 5. Promptly respond to email requests/correspondence from the Chapter Executive and Board Members. 6. Consider the purchase of a 2025 TMA NYC Annual Sponsorship and/or 2025 TMA NYC Golf & Tennis Outing Sponsorship with your firm. Please note that your invitation to remain on the Board is based on fulfilling the responsibilities of a Board Member listed above and the needs of the Chapter at that time. |
Available Board and Leadership Positions Director At-Large Prerequisite: 3 years active on a committee; In order to be considered for term renewal, a board member must demonstrate compliance with the chapter requirements for being a director (e.g. attendance at the board meetings, attendance at events, active participation). Treasurer Elect Prerequisite: Need to be board member to be nominated or apply President Elect Prerequisite: Need to be board member to be nominated or apply General Counsel Prerequisite: Need to be board member to be nominated or apply. 2-Year Term Subject to term limit of 2 consecutive terms (re-election required after each term) Vice Chair – Marketing The TMA NYC Marketing & Communications Committee is charged with supporting the efforts of the Chapter to build brand awareness and publicize and support the activities of the Chapter and its members. This involves activities such as: communicating with and developing relationships with the media to encourage media coverage of our events and build awareness of TMA NYC; developing content for the TMA NYC website; and, supporting the activities of the Membership, Programming, Pro Bono and Sponsorship Committees. Prerequisite: 1 year active on a committee; Vice Chair moves to Chair position via vote by nominations committee only. Not automatic. Chair – Audit Committee The TMA NYC Audit Committee is responsible for assisting the Board of Directors in fulfilling its oversight responsibilities for the financial reporting process, the system of internal control, and the organization’s process for required reporting. Prerequisite: 2 years active on a committee, including past year membership on this committee Vice Chair – Audit Committee The TMA NYC Audit Committee is responsible for assisting the Board of Directors in fulfilling its oversight responsibilities for the financial reporting process, the system of internal control, and the organization’s process for required reporting. Prerequisite: 1 year active on a committee; Vice Chair moves to Chair position via vote by nominations committee only. Not automatic. Vice Chair – NextGen The TMA NYC NexGen Committee represents the next generation of turnaround and corporate renewal professionals and provides networking and educational opportunities tailored to those in the early stages of their career. The NextGen Committee focuses on building and diversifying the overall TMA NYC membership base, providing best in class educational and networking programming, liaising with NextGen committees across the globe to maximize synergies and ensure continuity across the TMA NextGen platform, and creating a platform for young professionals to connect with industry leaders. Prerequisite: 2 years active on a committee, including past year membership on this committee Chair – Sponsorship Prerequisite: 2 years active on a committee, including past year membership on this committee Vice Chair – NOW The TMA NYC NOW (Network of Women) Committee is an affinity group created to foster female leadership and networking within the restructuring industry. TMA NYC NOW aims to provide substantive educational programming and networking opportunities for women that help promote career growth. The Committee hosts events throughout the year. Prerequisite: 2 years active on a committee, including past year membership on this committee Chair – Golf The TMA NYC Golf Committee plans and manages the TMA NYC Annual Golf & Tennis Outing, including solicitation of event sponsors and development of ideas to improve the experience. Prerequisite: 2 years active on a committee, including past year membership on this committee Vice Chair – Academic Relations The TMA NYC Academic Relations Committee recognizes outstanding business school student achievements in areas pertaining to bankruptcy, reorganization and/or restructuring and awards cash prizes to those individuals who have presented superior papers related to these areas of interest. The Academic Relations Committee will also on occasion, in conjunction with the Programming Committee, sponsor an educational panel on a relevant topic of interest to the general TMA NYC membership. Prerequisite: 2 years active on a committee, including past year membership on this committee Chair – Pro Bono The TMA NYC Pro Bono Committee collaborates with The State of New York, Empire State Development (ESD) to jointly sponsor Speed Mentoring events and, works to develop other pro bono initiatives for TMA NYC members.
